An African soul, born and educated in central Africa and graduating with a BA hons in fine art in the UK. Colleen Davies lives in paradise on a farm set in a valley surrounded by fields and woodland. Inspiration comes from close observation of nature. Colours from the sky, flora and fauna. Textures and shapes in leaves and bark, rust found in objects, peeling paint on ancient doors.
Present work is in porcelain and stoneware fired to around 1280 - 1300o in a gas fire kiln named "the dragon" because it spits out unique pieces of work that cannot be achieved in an electric kiln - it's random, exciting and no two pieces are alike.
